This January

The weather here in Birmingham has been crazy lately!  It feels like it has been raining and no sunshine for months straight...it hasn't been months, but really did rain for almost 2 weeks straight.  We have been cooped up indoors for awhile now...we had one not so rainy day last Saturday, so we headed to Irondale Cafe and enjoyed lunch and some "choo choo" trains.  

After naptime, Tucker and I made a stop by one of the park playgrounds, before heading to the grocery store.  We definitely took advantage of no rain that Saturday!

Then a few days later...IT SNOWED!  

I told you we were having some Crazy weather here in Alabama.  We went from days of rain to then a little snow storm!  Tucker and I played out in it for a bit...all he really wanted to do with the snow was throw it.

We enjoyed Tucker's first snow, even though it didn't last very long and melted after just one day!

And after the snow we had...the weather has been Beautiful...high 50's and 60's during the day with lots of sunshine!  We have been enjoying being outdoors, especially Tucker boy!

He enjoys strolling around our neighborhood and throwing rocks, sticks, pinecones etc...into any puddle of water we come across.

He loves "fishing" in the neighborhood ditches too.  He likes all the BOY things...rocks, mud, sticks, and dirt.  He could literally sit there for hours and pretend to "fish"...it is the cutest thing ever.  

And when we aren't outside "fishing"...Tucker is inside finding lots of ways to make Rusty useful :)

2012 Highlights

2012, you were great!  I made a resolution to start blogging and I did it!  A lot of wonderful things happened in just 1 short year...Tucker has grown and changed SO much.  Looking back it's crazy how much has changed in Tucker's life in just 12 months....

January- Tucker moved from the cradle, in our room, to his crib in his own room! 

              Tucker had his baby dedication and by the end of the month was pulling up

February- We traveled to Florida for Abbie and John Wesley's engagement party

                We celebrated Tucker's first Valentine's Day!

March- Tucker moved up to a new class at school and said goodbye to the Babybird room

             As a family we enjoyed Spring very much together!

             Loved going to the beach too :)

April- This was a big milestone month...Tucker took his FIRST STEPS!

May- Celebrated my first Mother's Day and it was such a sweet day :)

         Tucker turns ONE!

June- Tucker's first Vann family vacation

          First haircut

July- We celebrated the Fourth of July at the beach this year

August- New school year which meant another new class for Tucker

September- Pretty low key month...just some updates from my iPhone pictures 

October- Loving all that Fall has to offer

              Happy Halloween!

November- More iPhone pictures

                  We also spent Thanksgiving at the beach, which I did not blog about :( but it was fun!

December- Little one turned 18 months

                  Had our first trip to the North Pole Express

                 Celebrated a very Merry Christmas, Tucker's 2nd Christmas

Like I said before, 2012 was great.  We are BLESSED beyond words and I am so thankful for each day we get to spend together as a family!  I can't wait to see what 2013 has in store for our family of three, I know it will be awesome.  Thanks to all of my readers for helping my little dream of becoming a blogger this year come true :)  Hope everyone has a wonderful New Years!

Tucker's first Haircut

We took Tucker for his first haircut this past weekend.  I put this off for awhile...and then Tucker's hair was so long I couldn't even get it to stay parted over to one side anymore.  His hair looked shaggy, which is a great look too, but we just felt it was time.  I didn't really know how he was going to react to this new adventure, but like everything else so far he did great and was so patient!  

A lollipop helped out too!

He just enjoyed his lollipop, maybe even 2 or 3 and held mama's hand :)

We took him to an old-fashioned barber shop close by in Mountain Brook Village...

And there he is!  So big and proud...I think I might go cry now, because he is growing up Too fast!

So there we have it and once again, I'm so glad we were able to document another first for Tucker!  Sorry for the picture overload...but like I said in the beginning I am using this as a sort of online scrapbook!  I still can't believe our baby is old enough for his first haircut, but he looks SO adorable! :)

Tucker turns One!

Well...it's official our baby is now a year old!  How did this happen?!  How is it that one whole year has already passed by so quickly?  It seems like it was just yesterday that we were bringing Tucker home from the hospital and now we just finished celebrating his first Birthday!

The party was Great!  We love Eric Carle books, so we decided on "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" theme for the party.  We decided on the park for the location.  I felt like it was a perfect place with how much Tucker loves being outside and how much he loves to swing, run, and play!  

I had his outfit made with "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" on it :)

The book provided great inspiration for the party food!

 

Dustin made the signs in photoshop and I used large popsicle sticks to hold them up.

Jennifer, a girl I went to high school with made the cakes and they were Adorable!  She did such a great job and they tasted so good to... I cannot say enough good things about her cakes!

Bubbles for the party favors.  Again, Dustin made all the labels in Photoshop and I think they turned out great!  (A big thanks to him, because I am clueless when it comes to things like this!)

Tucker had so much fun and played non-stop the entire party!  We had such a great day with friends and family.  His first Birthday was wonderful and it was a beautiful, sunny day!  We couldn't have imagined a more perfect first birthday party for our Tucker boy!
