Keep It LOCAL!

Ok, first off let me say, this subject is something I feel SO strongly about...food quality.  When I was pregnant with Tucker, I was extremely cautious about the food I ate.  Where it came from, how it's grown, what's in it...etc...and once Tucker began eating food, I have made sure he, Dustin, and I only eat quality, healthy, good food and especially that it meets this criteria when buying and preparing these foods at home!  I will admit it's a little harder to to do when we occasionally eat out.

The most important things to me when buying produce, meat, dairy, etc. is:

1. How it's made/grown and what is in it...and what I mean is, I do not want the food I feed my family to be full of hormones, antibiotics, steroids, grown using pesticides and other chemicals that you have never even heard of before!

2. Where it is grown, raised, or made.  I truly believe in buying LOCAL.  It is so important that we buy from small farmers and businesses.  If we don't, who will?  I don't know about you, but I would much rather support a small, local, farm right here in our area, "the good ole' heart of Dixie", than buy foods that are not even grown here in our on Country!  I, somehow, feel a connection with these smaller farms/farmers and trust them and want them to keep doing what they are doing!  If I could somehow get a green thumb, I would be farming myself...seriously I would!

Soo...when I stumbled upon Purple Pumpkin Produce, I was thrilled.  First off, this is a small, local, business with a mission to bring the Farming industry back to Alabama.  They offer weekly deliveries of fresh produce to your doorstep.  How cool is that?!  You don't even have to leave your house!  The other great thing is that all of the produce is sustainably grown. Not only is the produce local, but it's grown just the way it should be :) We visit the Farmer's Market a lot, because it is near Impossible to buy local produce or meat at the grocery stores.  I am so excited about Purple Pumpkin Produce as they are doing a great job of getting local produce and fresh eggs to people like me and at a great price too.  You can see all of the options they offer over on their website.  Here is a link to their facebook page too...

I received my first delivery today and I couldn't be more pleased!  Literally, I got the box and immediately sat down to write this post...that's how excited I am to share this with all you readers!

Now our fridge is FULL of great local produce without my wallet being empty and I didn't even have to leave the house!

Our Star of The Week

Gigi's Fabulous Kids' Fashion and Toys is a great children's clothing and toy store that my Dear friend, Alex, works at in Florida.  It is the cutest store located in Rosemary Beach, Florida and literally just a few steps away from the beach.  I've always loved Gigi's, but even more now that Tucker boy has came into my life :)  He has worn clothes from Gigi's since the day he was born!  They have awesome clothes, toys, and gifts for kids and babies!

They also have a blog...well actually it's called "the glob"!  How cute is that?  On the glob they feature "A Star of the Week"...and since we were in Florida this past week Tucker was chosen to be the star!  He had a mini fashion show where he tried on several outfits that I loved!  We dressed him up, took pictures of him, and even did a little interview where they asked me all sorts of fun questions about Tucker.  Looks like Tucker has become quite the celebrity...go ahead and see for yourself!

So...if you are ever in the Rosemary Beach area or find yourself on Highway 30A, be sure and stop by Gigi's Fabulous Kids' Fashion & Toys!  It's definitely worth checking out and you might even become somewhat of a Gigi's addict like me :)

Review Time!

I like products that work, are efficient, make life simpler, and most importantly save us money!  So...when I find things that fit into these categories, I like to share so others can enjoy too!

A little backstory...
I am pretty neurotic when it comes to photos and photo storage.  For example, I have all these great pictures on my iPhone.  Dustin gave me my newest iPhone the day before Tucker was born.  So...literally my pictures on this phone start at day # 1 of Tucker's life.  With that being said, it's always made me a little crazy that something is going to happen to my phone before I can back these up or have them printed.  Which is one the reasons I love Facebook and Instagram for picture sharing and storage.  That way if anything ever happens to our computer, phones, etc...at least they will always be there on a site and we can access them from anywhere.  Also, as much as I love how digital/technological everything is now when it comes to pictures...it still makes me a little sad that lots of my pictures never get printed because of this reason.
That was the backstory.

One day I happened to stumble upon the Postal Pix app and I am SO glad I did.  It's an app designed specifically for the iPhone for printing pictures and then they mail them to your door!  It's awesome.  All different sizes of pictures available at great prices.  The quality of the pictures are great too.  The other cool thing is, if you choose to print any photos you've edited in Instagram they are printed in 4x4 squares and look sort of vintage, which I love!

So...I ordered all the pictures that I hold near and dear to my heart, off of my phone, starting with Tucker's first days up until recently.  The app makes ordering super easy, very affordable, and delivered to my door within just a few days!  Now all those pictures I worried about losing are tucked away safely.  I don't know about you, but our pictures are some of our most prized possessions!  Here are a few of my favorites over the past 8 months of Tucker's life.  Enjoy :)
